Cutting of the Amazon Rainforest
The Amazon rainforest is 2.1 BILLION acres and every second the equivalent of what is cut down is nearly 2 acres! You could blink once and more than your whole yard would be cut down.
Cutting down the Amazon rainforest is one of the biggest problems in the world. In the past 50 years we have cut down around 20 percent of the entire rainforest. And in the next 50 years the Amazon rainforest could be entirely gone if we don’t do anything about it. Not only do we destroy the rainforest but we are harming animals and plants. Not only that but also we are affecting the people who live in the rainforest, and soon their homes will be gone.
According to the authors from the Rain-Tree Publishers, “The Amazon rainforest produces more than 20 percent of the entire world’s oxygen.” And if we lose that 20 percent of the oxygen in the air there won’t be enough to breathe in some places. Losing the rainforests will cause global climate change and different rain patterns. Because of this 30 to even 60 percent of the Amazon rainforest could become a dry savannah. The Amazon rainforest, one of the world’s wettest places and one of the most biologically diverse places on earth, could be completely gone. Soon, if we don’t stop the cutting, the Amazon rainforest, the rainforest of life and beauty, will be known as the dry lifeless plain.
This won’t happen if we start to change. If people help save the rainforest they will help everyone in the world. Without the Amazon rainforest we may not survive.
I had no idea how much of the rainforest has been cut down! I wish they could just use the wood in boxford! how many tree's have been cut since the 1970s?
ReplyDeleteYeah a lot of trees have been cut down since the 1970s. It is estimated that 80,000,000,000 or 80 billion trees have been cut down since the 70s.
DeleteI did not know the rain forest is that big, but it is also very bad how much is being cut down ever second! Do you know what companies are cutting down the trees?
ReplyDeleteCargill is the main company that is responsible for not just the Amazon rainforest but deforestation around the world. Cargill profits from other terrible things and destroying the environment.
DeleteI hope the poos cutting down the rainforest stop and realize there gonna kill us all. I do think I was not the best choice to read this blog because I have agziaty. I also think they should make it illegal to cut down the forest cuz if they do we will all be killed and killing is illegal!!
ReplyDeleteYeah they need to realize how serious it actually is. But there are some pros and cons of cutting down the rainforest, bu it is mostly bad.
