                                               Ruby Bridges           Ruby Nell Bridges was the firs t African-American child to desegregate the all-white William Frantz Elementary School in Louisiana during the New Orleans school desegregation crisis on November 14, 1960.                The significant event was that she was picked to be the first African-American child to be in an all white school. Ruby’s birth year coincided with the US Supreme Court’s landmark ruling in Brown v. the Board of Education of Topeka Kansas, which ended racial segregation in public schools. Since she had the birth year that the Supreme court picked she got to be the first black person in an all white school.
